Best 4-H projects presented at annual state fair

4-H pigPUYALLUP, Wash. – About 2,500 youth from all over the state will show their animals, exhibit photos, give public presentations, compete in fashion reviews and display their many projects at the 4-H State Fair Sept. 6-24 in Puyallup.

Geocaching, an “iron chef” competition and robotics will also be featured. During commodity public presentations, 4-H’ers will explain how cherries, carrots or lavender impact the economy, give the food’s history and create recipes using the commodity.

Celebrate your health at Healthy Fair 2009

SPOKANE — Students from WSU’s Program in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology (ExMet), in partnership with the Riverpoint Campus Wellness Collaborative, will host the 5th Annual Healthy Fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, on the Riverpoint Campus in the atrium of the Academic Center at 600 N Riverpoint Blvd.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore a variety of healthy activities. ExMet and nursing students will be offering a limited number of free cholesterol and blood glucose screenings. Please contact Saren Kennedy at 509-358-7630 to schedule a time for the cholesterol test.

WSU holds “Civic Leaders Change Your World” community involvement fair

PULLMAN – The Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) at WSU is hosting a community involvement fair for students and the campus community: Civic Leaders Change Your World, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 4 in the Compton Union Building Junior Ballroom – room 210.
This is a drop-in event for students and members of the WSU community to learn about engagement opportunities available through local community organizations. Over 100 local agencies have been invited to participate.

PULLMAN – The WSU Education Abroad Fair will be from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., on Tuesday, January 20 in the CUB Junior Ballroom  Students in any field of study can find cost-effective programs to enhance their education and give a global perspective on their area of study. Visit the fair to talk with more than 20 study abroad program providers offering study and internship opportunities in over 40 countries.

Open enrollment for 2009 benefits runs Oct. 7-Nov. 30

WSU employees can change medical/dental plans, enroll eligible dependants, and enroll/re-enroll in the flexible spending and dependent care plans.


Information will be coming to all employees in the mail from the Public Employees Benefits Board (PEBB) about plan options, benefit changes and how to make online changes to coverage.


Some benefit changes for 2009 include:
