Dr. Anita Cory worked at Washington State University for over 20 years, focusing on the growth and development of student leaders in the fraternity/sorority community, and most recently on assessment and strategic planning for the Division of Student Affairs. This December, she will be recognized by the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors (AFA) as a recipient of the Sue Kraft Fussell Distinguished Service Award for her commitment to the profession and (more…)

Professor Gary Arthur from Grays Harbor College and the Evergreen State College Reservation-Based Native Studies program will be on campus in Pullman this week to conduct classroom case study events on the American Indian mascot controversy.  In addition to his anthropology and comparative ethnic studies classroom events, Professor Arthur will be discussing his most recent Enduring Legacies case, ‘The Aftermath of Redskins Indian Mascot Decisions: What’s Next?’ as well as reservation-based education opportunities in the Northwest on Friday, October 31, from 3-4:30 p.m. in College Hall, Room 220. On Monday, Nov. 3,  removal of the portable cell tower will take place by Verizon .  Stadium Way will experience minor traffic revisions and the sidewalk west of Stadium Way will be closed between Wilson Road and Johnson Road during tower removal. Stadium Way will be reduced to single lane traffic for up to 20 minutes Monday morning.    Access to the bus stop will be maintained by Verizon safety personnel. Traffic controllers will be present along with signage.  Please follow the directions of the safety personnel and traffic controllers.

Do you sometimes have to deliver unpleasant news? How do you convey challenging information in a way that corrects problems, protects relationships and results in ultimate success? This workshop examines many of the common barriers to effective communication and provides tips and skills for successful interaction.  This session takes place in Pullman and available statewide through AMS Videoconferencing on Thursday, November 6, from 2-3:30 p.m.

In this training program you will learn about conducting a vehicle inspection, safe driving skills and driving environments. Additional driving concerns and collision reporting procedures are also discussed. This program is highly recommended for drivers of WSU cargo or passenger vans. Explore the Palouse and take a day hike through the woods of Moscow Mountain on Nov. 15! Outdoor Recreation Center (ORC) facilitators will guide patrons through trails on the east side of the mountain and, if time permits, the group will reach the summit. Registration ends Nov. 9 and costs $15 for Student Recreation Center (SRC) members and $20 for nonmembers. Please note that spots are closing quickly! Nominations are now being accepted for the 2014-2015 President’s Employee Excellence Awards. The nomination period runs through December 3 at 5 p.m.

Five awards are given annually to recognize outstanding contributions by WSU administrative professionals and classified employees from across the state. The winners, selected based on a review of nominations and recommendations received by the President’s Employee Excellence Awards Committee, each receive $2,500 and will be recognized at Showcase in March 2015.
