The Association for Faculty Women invites RSVPs for its Thursday, Nov. 6, networking luncheon meeting featuring  Discussion about Career Advancement for Faculty of All Ranks.   Meet women faculty at WSU and join in a conversation on best practices for advancement from senior women faculty.   You don’t have to be a member to join in the discussion, but you do have to RSVP to get lunch ($6)!  Please RSVP by October 31 to Kay Vyhnanek, AFW Treasurer (kayv@wsu.edu) 335-9514 and note if you prefer vegetarian.  Lunch will be available at 11:30 in Lighty 405; the program will begin at noon.

University Recreation is offering a lead climbing clinic. Lead climbing is the method of climbing where you clip your rope into protection as you ascend, rather than being belayed through one anchor at the top of the climb (top roping). WSU Rural Communities Design Initiative (RCDI) students from 4th year Interior Design will present their final proposals for the LaCrosse Rock Houses on Wednesday,  October 29, 2-5 p.m. at the LaCrosse School in LaCrosse, WA. We hope you can attend as plans develop for the future of the Rock Houses, repurposing to best meet the needs of the community!  The community as well as students and faculty are invited to attend. Each year the Graduate and Professional Student Association gives excellence awards in four categories: Graduate Teaching Assistant, Graduate Research Assistant, Graduate Student Instructor, and Academic Advisor. He shares first-person “this happened here” accounts of 1972’s Bloody Friday deadly confrontation between nationalists and British troops, and talks about The Troubles in his country. Caviar Tasting Panel

Do you like caviar, sashimi, sushi or other seafood? We are looking for volunteers to evaluate sensory properties of caviar (you don’t have to have experience with caviar but be interested in tasting it). You need to be at least 18 years of age to participate. (more…)

About 12,000 courses that use Angel have already been re-created in Blackboard Learn, and the new learning management system will be available to all faculty by the beginning of November. Faculty can then make revisions, and launch the Bb Learn course space in Spring 2015. While all WSU Global Campus courses will be in Bb Learn in Spring 2015, the deadline for other courses is the end of Summer 2015, when Angel goes off-line. (more…)
