The School of Economic Sciences would like to invite you to this special lecture which will be held tonight at 7:00 p.m. in CUE 203 with a reception to follow. This year’s speaker will be Dr. Michael Grossman, Distinguished Professor of Economics at the City University of New York Graduate Center who will be lecturing on: “The Relationship Between Health and Schooling: What’s New?” Does better schooling affect the health status in a population? Or does better health increase schooling? Dr. Grossman, a renowned expert in health economics, will discuss the foundations of the health-education relationship, and explore recent empirical findings.

During a period of growing inequality, what are American attitudes about income redistribution? Join us Friday, April 10, 12 -1 p.m., in Foley Speaker’s Room (Bryan 308) for an informative discussion on income inequality with Professor and author Leslie McCall. Complimentary pizza and soda will be served!

Student Financial Services (SFS) would like to invite the entire WSU community to come celebrate the one year anniversary of WSU’s own internal Communications Center on Friday, April 10 at 2 p.m. in Lighty Student Services, Room 380.

The SFS Communications Center was launched last year to provide personalized customer service to WSU students and their families in order to meet their immediate financial aid needs. In its first year of operation, the Communications Center (which serves all WSU campuses) answered nearly 90,000 customer phone calls and processed almost 16,000 emails. (more…)

Interested in a challenging career as a lifeguard this summer? Check out the lifeguard certification courses hosted by University Recreation! During the month of April, the UREC Aquatic staff is hosting Youth Lifeguard Certification courses open to participants 15-17 years old. Youth Lifeguard Certification courses allow participants the opportunity to be certified in Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens Training. The UREC Aquatic staff is here to provide you the skills necessary to respond to a vast array of emergency situations and provide you with a professional career experience. (more…)

The 4th Annual Duck Derby is almost here! On April 11, the WSU Women’s Lightweight Crew Club is hosting the 2015 Duck Derby at Pine Street Plaza in downtown Pullman. The crew club is calling all community members and supporters to participate in this thrilling fundraising event! Participants can register for $10 per duck with a chance to win prizes while also supporting the Women’s Lightweight Crew Club. All rubber ducks purchased will be entered into a competitive duck race on Paradise Creek. Participants with winning ducks will be eligible for a variety of prizes. Online registration ends April 10 and day of registrations will be accepted from 11-11:45 a.m. at Pine Street Plaza. Come support the Lightweight Women’s Crew Team today and watch as your rubber duck dominates the Derby!

In honor of the upcoming Mom’s Weekend at WSU, Ferdinand’s Ice Cream Shoppe is doing a temporary release of its Lemon Chiffon.  It will be available through this Saturday, Apr. 11, and then it will not be available again until later in the Summer…hopefully when it is no longer snowing!!!
