Join the Entomology Graduate Student Association on Thursday, April 16, in CUE 419  at 6:30 p.m. for the 2015 EGSA Student Choice Speaker event. This event is free and all are welcome.

This year’s speaker is Dr. Alper Bozkurt of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at North Carolina State University.  His presentation is titled “Cyber-Enabled Bionic Animals for Environmental Sensing and Search-and-Rescue. ” (more…)

Time is running out!  Friday, April 17, is the last day students can register to walk in one of the Pullman Commencement Ceremonies to be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015.  Register on-line https://commencement.wsu.edu/ceremony-registration/.

The parking permit online renewal has moved into Phase 2.

Phase 2 is for current permit holders who are NOT SATISFIED with their current zone permit choice and wish to request a different permit zone and be placed on a waiting list.  To request a different permit zone, please go to http://www.transportation.wsu.edu and click on “Request a Different Permit Zone”.

After all the permit requests have been processed, you will be notified by email to return to the web to purchase your permit during Phase 3 which begins on April 17, 2015.  Note: Based on availability, your new permit choice may or may not be available to purchase.  However, you will still have the option to renew your current permit in Phase 3 and remain on a waiting list for your requested permit.

WSU Surplus Stores will be holding a public pre-price sale today, April 10, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Available in the sale will be game worn baseball jerseys, antique oak lawyers/office chairs, sofas, $5 dressers, $5 oak twin bed frames, $40 oak armoires and lots more. WSU departments are also encouraged to shop on Fridays but must observe the same shopping hours as the public. If you are shopping for your department, please bring a signed IRI to make a purchase.

All faculty, staff, students, and (of course!) Moms and families are invited to attend the final Global Case Competition TODAY at 3:30 p.m. in Todd 216. A catered reception and awards ceremony will immediately follow the program.

Five finalist interdisciplinary teams were selected by a panel of expert judges to present their innovative solutions to this year’s “global case:” Plastic Waste in Manaus, Brazil. (more…)

Enterprise Systems, in collaboration with the security team within WSU Information Technology Services, will be updating the zzusis sign-on page to show an acceptable use notification message. This use notification message will be static text end users can review and will not require any additional steps to sign-on to zzusis. The message will include a link to the ITS and WSU Computing Policies web page, where end users will be able to access and review the policies, regulations and procedures related to WSU computing and network resources. The message will begin to appear starting on Friday, April 10th and will be a permanent fixture on the sign-on page going forward. (more…)

Stop by the college’s open house Saturday, April 11. The day starts with a 5K Canine Canter at 8 a.m.  Beginning at 10 a.m. the fun includes teddy bear surgery, tours of the hospital, a dog wash, face painting, kids’ crafts and games, and an appearance by Butch T. Cougar.

Dogs and their owners will team up for a three-mile fun run or walk at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 11, at Washington State University to kick off the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Annual Open House. Humans without dogs are also welcome.

WSU Baseball celebrates Mom’s Weekend with a homestand against the University of Washington this Friday and Saturday, April 10-April 11 at Bailey-Brayton Field.  First Pitch is at 7:00 p.m. Friday, 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

If you’re interested in learning how to capture the true beauty of nature, attend the Outdoor Recreation Center’s Outdoor Photo Clinic on April 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. Come learn the basics of framing, composition, utilization of natural and artificial light sources, as well as gear protection. No experience is necessary, just come meet other photographers and learn a thing or two. The clinic costs $5, and registration closes April 12.

The Washington State University Museum of Art is excited to share the talents of MFA graduate candidates in our upcoming Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition, April 10 – May 9, 2015. Mom’s Weekend opening and reception begin at 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 10 in the Museum of Art/WSU. Admission to the museum is always free.

The exhibition is organized by our curators Zach Mazur and Ryan Hardesty who’ve said, “This exhibition provides a wide range of styles and stimulating experiences for faculty, students and local museum constituents. The world-class faculty at WSU encourage the MFA candidates to become more assured and articulate in their convictions.
