On summer days, Irish Republican Army (IRA) activist-turned-peacemaker Jon McCourt walks Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland, streets with WSU Honors College students in Matt Carroll’s faculty-led study-abroad course. He shares first-person “this happened here” accounts of 1972’s Bloody Friday deadly confrontation between nationalists and British troops, and talks about The Troubles in his country. And how has been an activist for peace for four decades.
On Tuesday, Oct. 28, McCourt will visit WSU and lead a noontime Foley Institute discussion and deliver an evening Honors College Bhatia Lecture. Both are free and open to the public.
