Cougar volleyball announces spring 2010 schedule

PULLMAN – The WSU volleyball team will host three spring tournaments this month – two in Pullman and one in the Tri-Cities – WSU head coach Andrew Palileo said Monday. Spectators are encouraged to watch the tournament action, free of charge. The tournament schedule is listed below.

Kids flock to campus for fun & learning

 

PULLMAN — The WSU campus is pretty quiet during summer.  Where once there were students laughing and talking, the dusty sound of landscaping and construction now fills the air.

 

But hidden away in pockets across campus, there are students of another sort – “pre-Cougars” or “mini-Cougars” – all here to either learn about WSU or take part in a variety of summer camps.

Fifth annual women’s clothing drive

For the fifth consecutive year, the Cougar volleyball team is sponsoring a clothing drive for disadvantaged women in the area. Fans are asked to bring their gently used clothing and a pair of new hose for donation to the Pullman Community Action Center. The clothing will be donated for use by area low-income women entering or re-entering the work force and needing professional clothing. Larger sizes are especially needed. Donors are asked to bring their items to the WSU volleyball office in Bohler, room 230, between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Thurs., Sept. 22 and Fri., Sept. 23…donors will receive free admission to a Cougar … » More …

Minnesota coach named to head volleyball squad

PULLMAN, Wash. — Brian Heffernan, an associate head coach at the University of Minnesota, has been named the head coach of the Washington State University volleyball team. “Brian’s knowledge and experience make him a great selection to lead the Cougar volleyball program,” said WSU Director of Athletics Jim Sterk. “He was an integral part of Minnesota’s Sweet Sixteen and Final Four finishes the past two seasons and he understands the great volleyball tradition we have at Washington State.” Heffernan becomes the 10th volleyball coach in school history, replacing Cindy Fredrick, the Cougar coach for 15 seasons before leaving for the head coaching position at the … » More …

Faculty/staff teaming up for exercise and health

Okay couch potatoes and computer jockeys — let’s have no more excuses about why you’re not exercising regularly, participating on an athletic team or generally keeping in shape. Washington State University offers a wide variety of exercise and recreation programs for faculty and staff, not to mention access to some state-of-the-art facilities and equipment at affordable prices.
