Magnificent Cougar graces campus

“There’s a new Coug in town!” said a bystander watching the painstaking installation of an 11-foot tall cougar statue at Martin Stadium Thursday morning. Placed just in time for the Apple Cup, the granite and bronze monument is destined to become one of WSU’s most notable landmarks.

 

The sculpture, Cougar Pride, was commissioned and donated to WSU by Gary Schneidmiller (WSU class of 1971) and created by Spokane artists, Mike and Chester Fields. A formal dedication ceremony will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Martin Stadium Plaza.

Martin Stadium ready for Cal Sept. 6

PULLMAN – With the start of the 2008 Cougar football season less than two weeks away, Washington State University officials are reminding fans, friends and alumni returning to Pullman to be aware of the many changes they will see in and around Martin Stadium.

The majority of the Phase I and II Martin Stadium renovation will be complete, most notably in the east end zone when new restrooms have been added, along with concessions, first aid, ADA accessible seating, new entry gates and convenient access to the North concourse and ticket office.

PULLMAN – After years in the tight quarters of the WSU Visitor Center in downtown Pullman, the WSU Athletic Ticket Office has moved into its new permanent location on the Northeast Plaza of the renovated Martin Stadium. The new office – just south of Mooberry Track – is an easy walk from anywhere on campus, opened June 30.

Phase One of the project included the beautification of the stadium’s east and south ends, which included the new restroom facilities, updated concession stands and larger walkways.

Phase Two focused on expanding the northern concourse area.

Phases Three and Four will focus on premium seating and other amenities for the upper concourse.
