The first home game of the season for Cougar football – kicking off a fall filled with new and enhanced gameday experiences – is taking place this weekend.
The WSU football team will host Duquesne on Saturday, Sept. 19. Kickoff at Gesa Field is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., with tickets being available via the WSU Athletics website. The game will also be broadcast on the USA Network.
The weekend’s festivities kick off the day before with the inaugural Cougar Collective Friday Happy Hour Social and First Down Friday in Downtown Pullman. The former takes place from 3-6 p.m. at the WSU Baseball Complex patio and will include coaches, student-athletes, appetizers, drink tickets and auctions.
First Down Fridays in Downtown Pullman is a street fair running from 5-8 p.m. and will feature music, games, local vendors and activities for the whole family. Subsequent First Down Fridays in Downtown Pullman will also be taking place Sept. 25, Oct. 2 and Oct. 23.
Prior to kickoff on Saturday, fans can gather inside the Compton Union Building Senior Ballroom for the new Kickoff at the CUB. The event will be open to all fans, no ticket required, three hours prior to kickoff. Cougville on Rogers Field returns this season, kicking off two hours prior to kickoff and includes a beer garden and kid’s zone with inflatables.
WSU fans have plenty to look forward to later this season. This year’s Cougfest on Rogers Field will feature country music artist Jake Worthington and special guest Lanie Gardner on Friday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. Next month’s festivities include the return of the Harvest Market on Mooberry Track on Oct. 2 – part of a host of activities for Family Weekend. And the university will welcome back its alums for Homecoming Weekend on Oct. 24.
