A WSU research team has received a $1.2 million U.S. Department of Education grant to train graduate students to address challenges of the future electric power grid.
The institute earned a Mather Institute Promising Practices Award recognizing its work on education, service, and research for the senior living industry.
The lab’s aim is to help the university produce “work‑ready, day‑one” graduates by providing training in the tools they’ll ultimately use in the office and field upon graduation.

WSU President Kirk Schulz has honored 11 individuals as well as the entire clinical staff of Cougar Health Services for their leadership in safeguarding the university community this past year.
Patrick Lane was honored as this fall’s Chosen Coug Award recipient. Lane, who died of COVID‑19 earlier this year, was recognized for the distinct impact he had on his daughter’s experience at WSU.
