Student Financial Services (SFS) recognizes there are many questions and concerns students and their families have about financial aid and scholarships during this time of the year. We encourage students to wrap their arms around these tips, to make sure their financial aid is ready for them on the first day of classes. As WSU replaces Angel with Blackboard Learn, faculty are encouraged to start setting up their Blackboard course spaces for fall semester. To assist, WSU’s eLearning Services is offering workshops on both Blackboard Basics and the Grade Center this week. Air quality in various locations statewide may begin to deteriorate due to wildfire smoke. WSU Campuses and Research and Extension Centers could be affected.

A continuing WSU Libraries’ exhibit looks at the creative and active lives of library employees after the workday is done.

“After Hours 2: What Do You Do?” will extend its run in the Terrell Library atrium display case through August 20. In addition to paintings and other more traditional forms of arts and crafts, Terrell passersby can expect to see roller derby skates, iced cookies, a great-grandmother’s apple cake recipe, kung fu weapons and more in the display. In this training program you will learn about conducting a vehicle inspection, safe driving skills and driving environments. Additional driving concerns and collision reporting procedures are also discussed. This program is highly recommended for drivers of WSU cargo or passenger vans. This training takes place on August 6, 1:30-4 p.m.

This course is designed to give hiring managers, search committee members and search support a practical understanding of the outreach and advertising process for faculty positions.  Specific topics will include samples for print and online advertisements, online job boards, contracted newspaper vendors, resume database searches and the best times to advertise.

It will take place August 7, from 9 -10:30 a.m.

The Motor Pool reminds departments to schedule emissions tests and annual inspections for WSU department-owned vehicles. Emissions tests are required for all 1990 to 2008 WSU vehicles. Annual inspections need to be done on all university-owned vehicles.

WSU Pullman mailing services will seal business letter sized mail and some larger envelopes if the flap is in on the long edge and the address is parallel to the long edge. Our machines will also seal most greeting/invitation card-sized envelopes but they do not always seal tidy. (more…)
