University Communications Mailing Services metering equipment and USPS sorting equipment cannot process black, red, or any other dark colored envelopes and postcards. Postcards with dark pictures on the back side also cannot be processed. If you do use them, they must be stamped by your office. Stamps are available for purchase from University Communications Mailing Services.

University Communications will host a large size printing open workshop on Wednesday, January 27, from 11 a.m. to noon in the Cooper Publications Building. Everyone is welcome to join us and learn about the many options available, but are also encouraged to come with questions and to collaborate on any printing related projects or topics desired.

Three WSU professors will discuss their methods for engaging students during a Jan. 20 faculty-led workshop.

WSU Clinical Associate Psychology Professor Dee Posey and Associate Professor William B. Davis have each found success by restructuring large courses to include elements of the “flipped classroom” approach. WSU Assistant Professor David Makin uses a more traditional format, but has developed classroom techniques that create Socratic-type discussions, even in larger courses. (more…)

The Mom’s Weekend 2016 booklet provides information on all the events taking place around campus and town throughout Mom’s Weekend. Almost 5,000 booklets are distributed throughout campus, and at partner locations throughout the Pullman community. This year’s booklet includes a map of campus that highlights advertisers’ locations. (more…)

Staff, faculty, students and community members are invited to audition for roles in Washington State University Performing Arts’ production of Neil Simon’s “The Dinner Party” Jan. 19 and 20 at 7 p.m. in Wadleigh Theatre at Daggy Hall.

With the completion of Frontier Communications emergency maintenance the phones issues that the WSU Pullman campus had been experiencing seem to be resolved, Information Technology Services (ITS) has had no further reports of trouble with off campus calls.

Dr. Thomas Burr, Professor at Cornell University NYSAES, will be presenting a seminar titled, “Crown Gall on Grapevines: Management strategies based on current understanding of pathogen biology” on Wednesday, January 20, at 10:30 a.m. The seminar will be hosted at WSU Prosser IAREC and is available via AMS Videoconferencing (Dial-up #5703697).

The Carson College of Business Center for Entrepreneurial Studies will host Resource Nights, a weekly series of industry experts who come to campus to offer guidance on developing strong business plans and presentations. The series helps student entrepreneurs prepare for the 15th Annual Business Plan Competition April 22-23 but is also open to the public. The series occurs 6-8 p.m. Thursdays in the Marriott Hospitality Teaching Center in Todd Addition 268. Light refreshments will be served by the School of Hospitality Business Management. (more…)

Experienced student researchers are available to help out with anything related to undergraduate research at WSU, such as how to get started, how to find funding, or how to find a faculty mentor.
