Feb. 8: ‘Healthy Soils, Healthy Farms’ workshop

Palouse farm fields and soilPULLMAN, Wash. – “Healthy Soils, Healthy Farms,” a workshop designed for farmers and interested residents in Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho, will be presented by Washington State University Extension, 7:45 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, at Banyan’s Pavilion.

The workshop will cover management insights on cropping systems and earthworms, roots, erosion, testing for soil health, soil acidity, dryland cover cropping, enrollment in government programs, and the role of state and national policies on soil health.

Speakers from WSU, the University of Idaho, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Local Conservation Districts, the Risk Management Agency, and the Natural Resources Conservation Service will highlight their research-based management recommendations.

This workshop has been approved for 8.5 Certified Crop Advisor credits. Continental breakfast, lunch and no-host social are included.
