PULLMAN – WSU Athletic Director Jim Sterk was among four inducted into the Western Washington University Athletics Hall of Fame on Feb. 6.

 

Sterk set a WWU Vikings season record for tackles as a linebacker. He received a bachelor’s degree at WWU in 1980, and earned four letters in football and one in basketball. During the 1977 season, Sterk was a first-team NAIA District One football all-star, team captain and MVP in helping the Vikings to the district championship game.

Apple Cup option offers $10M opportunity

In light of media reports regarding the Apple Cup and the possibility of moving it to Qwest Field, WSU Director of Athletics Jim Sterk addressed the topic in an e-mail message sent to concerned fans on Thursday, April 16.

 

Sterk began his message acknowledging the fans’ concerns stating: “I understand the emotional attachment Cougar Football, and the Apple Cup specifically, has for Cougar fans such as you, as well as the historical significance of the game.”

Ken Bone, WSU’s new men’s basketball head coach, was introduced to the university and media Tuesday at a press conference in the Camp Room at the Bohler Athletic Complex.

PULLMAN — WSU Director of Athletics Jim Sterk Tuesday named Eastern Washington University coach Paul Wulff as the new head football coach of the Cougars. Wulff becomes WSU’s 31st head coach and the first WSU football letterwinner and graduate to lead the Cougars since Phil Sarboe served as head coach from 1945-49.

Students pass stadium fees, elect ASWSU government

WSU students voted to help pay for the renovation of Martin Stadium Wednesday.The $25 per semester fee was approved by the student vote and will go into effect starting fall semester 2006. Sterk signs new contract as WSU athletic director

Jim Sterk, who has served as WSU athletic director since July 2000, has signed a new five-year contract with the university, with a base pay of $173,825.The Cougars are coming off another successful football campaign, becoming the first Pac-10 team since the 1930s to win 10 games in three consecutive seasons. WSU finished the year with a victory over the University of Texas in the Holiday Bowl and was ranked ninth in the final polls by both the coaches and the sportswriters.
