Apple Cup option offers $10M opportunity

In light of media reports regarding the Apple Cup and the possibility of moving it to Qwest Field, WSU Director of Athletics Jim Sterk addressed the topic in an e-mail message sent to concerned fans on Thursday, April 16.


Sterk began his message acknowledging the fans’ concerns stating: “I understand the emotional attachment Cougar Football, and the Apple Cup specifically, has for Cougar fans such as you, as well as the historical significance of the game.”

Sept. 16 Seattle rally spreads Coug spirit across state

WSU will paint the town crimson on the eve of the WSU vs. Grambling State football game in Seattle.The Cougar Marching Band, cheer squad, alumni, students and fans will fill Westlake Center with crimson pride beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, during the second annual downtown Seattle Cougar spirit rally.“The spirit rally was organized initially at the suggestion of many westside alumni,” said Sally Savage, vice president, University Relations. “They wanted a high energy get-together in advance of the football game at Qwest field.
