Sick leave cashed out available this month

Each January, and at no other time, some employees with accrued sick-leave balances may exchange sick leave for cash. The processing deadline for payment is Jan. 26. 

 

Teaching and research faculty are not eligible. Civil service employees and administrative professional employees are eligible. Employees covered by collective bargaining agreements should refer to the appropriate agreement for eligibility information.

 

Eligible employees whose year-end sick-leave balance exceeds 480 hours may convert sick-leave hours earned in the previous calendar year, minus those used during the year, to monetary compensation. Extending paychecks through summer

WSU employees who work only during the academic year can spread their paychecks over all 12 months with the help of WSU Payroll Services.

 

First, determine the amount you want to save from each paycheck. This will create a nest egg from which to draw money when you’re not receiving a regular paycheck.

 

Next, set up a savings account with Washington State Employees Credit Union or the Washington School Employees Credit Union. They provide this program in cooperation with payroll services.

The start of the school year is a good time for faculty and staff, both new and old, to chekc thier online paystubs through the Web PBS system to make sure their benefit selections are accurate.

 

Employees can quickly and easily monitor their benefits by visiting www.ba.wsu.edu/webpbs/index.html, clicking the “Proceed ” link and then accessing their earnings statement or employee benefits.
