Student TV wins national award for video game talk show

cable-8-logoPULLMAN, Wash. – Cable 8 Productions’ television show, “The 8 Bit,” recently was named the country’s Best Video General Entertainment Program by the College Broadcasters Incorporated (CBI). Cable 8 is the student-run TV station at Washington State University.

Cable 8 Productions presents benefit concert

WSU Cable 8 Productions and Stephenson South residence hall will present a benefit concert 7:30-9:30 p.m. Friday, April 3, in Stephenson Down Under. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. 

 

Organizers hope to raise $10,000 to donate to the Schulze-Makuch family of Pullman to cover expenses for their son’s cancer treatment. Dirk Schulze-Makuch is an associate professor at WSU Pullman.

The concert will feature bands Chariot on Fire of Pullman, Passion of California and My Paper Camera of Boise.

Cable 8 projects nominated

Three projects produced by Cable 8 Productions have been selected as finalists in the College Broadcasters Inc. (CBI) 2007 Production Contest. CBI, the national association representing students involved in radio, television and webcasting, is committed to education and the student pursuit of excellence through active involvement in electronic media.

Music video “Endeavor Cacophony” and long-running television series “VU Out from the Underground,” both directed by Zak McKee, are nominated for Best Technical Production.

One-time TV series “Little Town, Season 1, Episode 1,” directed by Steve Stensager, is nominated for Best Drama. Both McKee and Stensager graduated from the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication … » More …

WSU’s Cable 8 Productions wins national honors

PULLMAN  – Washington State University’s student-run Cable 8 Productions has been honored by College Broadcasting Inc. (CBI), the nation’s premiere student national broadcasting organization.Cable 8 Productions was recognized in the Best Student Media Website and Best News Reporting categories at CBI’s national convention, Oct. 26-29 in St. Louis, Mo.”Winning in the Best Student Media Website category is very meaningful to our team,” said Margaret Russo, a senior public relations major from Tacoma, Wash., and vice president for marketing communication and alumni affairs for Cable 8 Productions. “Students wrote and designed the site and totally maintain it,” Russo said.
