SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane will observe a bittersweet National Arbor Day this Friday, April 29. Not only is the ponderosa pine its official tree, but the city has been declared a Tree City USA for 12 years in a row by the National Arbor Foundation.

VANCOUVER, Wash. – It can take Mother Nature 1,000 years to grow a forest. But Nikolay Strigul, assistant professor of mathematics and statistics at Washington State University Vancouver, can grow one on a computer in three weeks.
EVERETT, Wash. – Woodland owners will build skills for caring for their trees through a Forest Stewardship Coached Planning course 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays, March 29-May 17, at the Washington State University Snohomish County Extension Cougar Auditorium, 600 128th St. SE, Everett. A field day will be Saturday, April 30.
PULLMAN, Wash. – A webinar on the effectiveness of a Pacific Northwest revenue-neutral carbon tax as it relates to federal biofuel policy will be hosted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, by Advanced Hardwood Biofuels Northwest.
