Washington State University Statewide Campuses has established campus director roles for WSU Everett, WSU Tri-Cities and WSU Vancouver to strengthen leadership presence and connections between campus communities and the Office of the Executive Vice President for WSU Statewide Campuses.
The new campus directors are:
- Damien Sinnott, senior associate vice president for WSU Statewide Campuses finance and operations, who will serve as campus director for WSU Everett.
- Kate McAteer, senior associate vice president and vice provost for WSU Statewide Campuses, who will serve as campus director for WSU Tri-Cities.
- Christine Portfors, associate vice president and vice provost for WSU Vancouver academic and student affairs, who will serve as campus director for WSU Vancouver.
Campus directors will serve as on-site representatives of the Office of the Executive Vice President for WSU Statewide Campuses, helping strengthen connections among faculty, staff, students, community partners and the WSU Statewide Campuses Executive Leadership Team.
The change was informed by feedback from faculty, staff, and community members who emphasized the importance of visible, accessible leadership on each campus.
“Over the past several months, we consistently heard that local leadership presence matters,” said Sandra Haynes, executive vice president for WSU Statewide Campuses. “Campus directors provide a dedicated, on-campus connection to the Office of the Executive Vice President while preserving the benefits of a coordinated statewide model.”
The campus director responsibilities are being added to the leaders’ existing roles. It is not a new administrative title, does not include a change in compensation, and is not a return to the former campus chancellor model.
Haynes emphasized that the addition of campus directors does not replace the WSU Statewide Campuses leadership model established earlier this year. She will continue spending time on each campus and working closely with faculty, staff, students, and community partners across Everett, Tri-Cities and Vancouver.
“This approach strengthens local leadership presence while helping WSU Statewide Campuses stay connected and aligned,” Haynes said.
