Undergraduate research fellowship applications open

Undergraduates who are or plan to be engaged in research, scholarship, and creative activities with a mentor are invited to consider applying now for a 2025–26 research fellowship award.

“We encourage students from all majors on all campuses with all levels of experience to review the available awards, gather their required information, and submit an application,” said Jeremy Lessmann, Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) director. Applications are open and will close Jan. 31. A PDF of the application is available for review.

There are seven types of awards available, and in certain cases, an applicant might receive funds from more than one. Eligibility for some awards might be available to researchers in a specific academic area, at a certain academic level, or with a required GPA, for example.

OUR grants Auvil, Carson, DeVlieg, Weir, and Undergraduate Research Fellowship awards. The WSU Emerita/Emeritus Society and the Team Mentoring Program also grant awards. Information for all of them is online.

More than $61,000 was awarded in 2024–25 to undergraduate researchers. Individual fellowships supported by individual and corporate donor dollars awarded by the OUR typically average between $1,500–2,000.

Questions can be emailed to OUR.
