Banff Mountain Film Festival comes to the CUB

The Banff Mountain Film Festival will make its way to WSU at 7 p.m. Jan. 22 in the CUB Auditorium.

WSU students and UREC members get in to the showing for free, and tickets can also be purchased at the door for $15.

The festival showcases a collection of films that highlight the outdoors, adventure-based activities and mountain culture. The festival will include films ranging from two minutes in length to a full feature-length piece. The films center mostly around adventure-based sports such as skiing, climbing, kayaking, base jumping and mountain biking.

Possible films that will be included in the WSU showing are: “2.5 Million,” about American skier Aaron Rice tackling 2.5 million vertical feet in the backcountry; “Above the Sea,” about Chris Sharma deep-water soloing on the island of Mallorca; “Ascend,” about Jon Wilson bking his way through life after loosing a leg to cancer; and more than 30 other films.
