Spokane school administrators show leadership excellence

WSU Spokane recently helped establish the Excellence in Leadership Award to recognize exemplary leadership and achievement by local elementary and secondary school administrators.

“Our certification programs at WSU Spokane prepare principals, program administrators and superintendents for the complex roles of leadership in today’s schools,” said Joan Kingrey, director of programs in education at WSU. “We know that effective educational leadership is essential to the process of school improvement and increasing academic achievement for all students.”

Honored were Becky Cooke, principal of Evergreen Elementary in the Mead School District, and Jan Rust, executive director of evaluation, certification and training at Spokane Public Schools.

Joining WSU in sponsoring the awards are the Spokane Teachers Credit Union and Educational Service District 101. More information and nomination forms are available at https://www.education.spokane.wsu.edu/excellence. Or contact Kelly LaGrutta, lagrutta@wsu.edu or 358-7942.
