Health and Wellness Services at Washington State University celebrates its 100-year anniversary April 23 with a public reception in the HWS lobby from 4 – 6 p.m.
Presentations during the reception will begin at 5 p.m. and led by historian and retired longtime HWS physician, Dr. Betty K. Adams. Daniel Troupe, a HWS physician assistant, will present a time capsule to be sealed for historical preservation. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the program.
Following the presentations, a cake provided by Pullman Memorial Hospital staff in honor of the anniversary and the 75-year relationship between the hospital and HWS will by served by HWS staff dressed in period uniforms from throughout the century.
The anniversary also will address the future. Hospital administrator and directors are finalizing decisions on its new facility expected to open in summer 2004 at the Pullman Care Community on Bishop Boulevard. HWS will remain in its present location on campus. The hospital plans to continue operating a lab and imaging (X-ray) department from the campus HWS building location.
Throughout the month of April, medicinal tools and other artifacts from 1903 will be on display at the hospital. In addition, photographs depicting the history of student health services and the hospital will be on display.
