Turnitin contract cancelled; faculty encouraged to use SafeAssign

WSU faculty members are encouraged to utilize SafeAssign, the tool within Blackboard that can prevent plagiarism and help teach students how to attribute sources.

The contract with Turnitin expired July 31, 2016 and WSU employees no longer have access to the program. A comparison of SafeAssign and Turnitin is located here.

The Department of Academic Outreach and Innovation will host training sessions and webinars on SafeAssign in August and throughout the year. More about available trainings can be found here.

Faculty and students also have access to iThenticate, a tool used to verify originality in scholarly writing. For more about Academic Integrity at WSU please refer to the Provost’s blog of July 8.

Please email to provost.social@wsu.edu if you have questions, or would like more information.
