This November the Leadership Center has selected Kyle Strachila to receive the honor of “Student Leader of the Month”, an award that distinguishes student leaders that encourage others to learn and engage with leadership offerings at WSU.
Elected as ASWSU Vice President in April 2016, Kyle empowers his staff to be the best student leaders they can be by choosing to lead by example. Strachila firmly believes in the merits of servant leadership and offers students advice on beginning their leadership journey at WSU: “I’d be lying if I said at one point I accepted leadership positions to make myself look impressive, but as I’ve grown older I’ve realized how futile that is. The most important aspect of leadership to me is servant leadership. I believe servant leadership is fully getting behind the work of a project or organization by believing in the mission,” Strachila continues, “The best advice I can offer to students starting their leadership journey to find the mission that aligns with your life values and motives, and work towards accomplishing it.”
If you know a WSU student who has demonstrated exemplary leadership in the WSU community and is deserving of this award, please submit a nomination today at www.lead.wsu.edu.
