Student Information System to Move to Next Generation Infrastructure

As part of on-going efforts to serve students, faculty and staff, Enterprise Systems will be working with Oracle Managed Cloud Services (OMCS) to upgrade to the next generation of computing hardware and infrastructure underlying the student information system.

The change will enable WSU to migrate from the current infrastructure, with servers and hardware that are over five years old, to a completely new environment. The new environment is part of OMCS’ plan to continue strong performance for WSU. OMCS notes that the change will also provide a more logical grouping of the storage, network, and servers, making it easier to manage, provision, monitor, and service the environment.

The upgrade to the production environment (“zzusis”) will occur the weekend of October 10-12. The upgrade will begin at 7 p.m. on October 10, and will last approximately 12 hours.  Access to zzusis will be disabled as the upgrade is completed. The Registrar’s Office and the Graduate School have extended the deadline to apply for an undergraduate, professional or graduate degree without incurring a late fee through Saturday, October 11, in order to help accommodate this important upgrade.
