Interested in engineering and science research? Want to know how to get started working with WSU faculty? The Office of Undergraduate Research offers a “Research Skills Course” during the spring for STEM-focused students (in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). You must enroll in the one-credit, graded course (UNIV 497, section 13, “Peer Leadership: STEM Research Skills Course”), which meets during spring 2015 each Wednesday from 4:10-5 p.m. (more…)

Keep your child active this fall by signing them up for youth swim lessons at University Recreation! Youth swim lessons run from Oct. 18 to Nov. 22 or Oct. 19 through Nov. 23, depending on the class. UREC offers different skill level lessons for children 6 and older as well as lessons for preschoolers. Classes will be held in the SRC Pool on Saturdays or Sundays. Lesson registration costs $25 for SRC members and $35 for nonmembers. Registration ends Oct. 24 or Oct. 25, depending on the class start date. The 14th annual William D. Lipe Visiting Scholar in archaeology will discuss “Local Communities and Early Chiefdom Dynamics: A Comparative Archaeological Perspective” from 3:30 – 5 p.m. in Todd 130. Dr. Drennan is Distinguished Professor of Anthropology and Director of the Center for Comparative Archaeology at the University of Pittsburgh.

China Town Hall is a national day of programming on China, offered by the National Committee on United States-China Relations. Thursday, Oct. 16, 4 to 5 p.m.

UREC is now offering a new fitness class called BodyPump! This Les Mills formatted class includes compound and isolation movements using a barbell, free weights and an aerobic step. BodyPump is a weights-based resistance training class that aims to build strength in every major muscle group. You can sign up for this class for Fitness Session II, which runs from Oct. 20-Dec. 12. This course describes three participant roles and their respective responsibilities, the policy and process for purchasing, reconciliation and documentation, prohibited purchases and the consequences of misuse.
