The Lightweight Women’s Rowing Program has launched their newest fundraiser called Lightwork. Lightwork provides customers with service for any odd jobs that need completing. Whether it’s cleaning, organizing or anything of the sort, Lightwork will get it done for you! The final Lightwork session of spring 2015 is April 18-19. This workshop will be led by Karen Breese and Preston Comstock.  Their instruction will provide insight into the purpose and use of facilities and administrative costs charged to sponsored projects.  They will explain the importance of collecting those costs and WSU’s policy on exceptions to sponsors. Spend a night on the WSU/EWU Spokane Riverpoint Campus!

Sleep Over for Science is an overnight health careers education camp for fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students. The event aims to excite and educate students interested in health care career fields. Students learn about the specific choices they need to make regarding their education in order to be ready for the high demands of both high school and college. (more…)

University Recreation and the Center for Civic Engagement present the 18th Annual Campus on the Run on April 25. The proceeds from this year’s run will go to Backyard Harvest, which will aid in the development of new crops for the Palouse.

In addition to the traditional 5k, you can also try the Campus on the Run Obstacle Dash! This three mile course includes wall climbs, tire flips, burpees and more. The obstacle dash is open to anyone who is 18 years of age or older and the race is open to anyone who is 6 years of age or older. The cost for the run is $20 for SRC members and $23 for nonmembers. The obstacle dash is $25 for members and $35 for nonmembers.

Motor Pool has a new roll off tow truck, capable of carrying up to two WSU owned vehicles at one time. Charges to departments is a base fee of $50/hour, staff hourly rate of pay,  plus a mileage fee of $.25/mile after the first 100 miles. Please call Motor Pool if you have any questions or need help having your WSU owned vehicle towed. The School of Economic Sciences would like to invite you to this special lecture which will be held on Wednesday, April 8, at 7 p.m. in CUE 203 with a reception to follow. This year’s speaker will be Dr. Michael Grossman, Distinguished Professor of Economics at the City University of New York Graduate Center who will be lecturing on: “The Relationship Between Health and Schooling: What’s New?” Does better schooling affect the health status in a population? Or does better health increase schooling? Dr. Grossman, a renowned expert in health economics, will discuss the foundations of the health-education relationship, and explore recent empirical findings.

It’s permit renewal time!  WSU Transportation Services will be offering annual parking permit renewals for 2015/16 on the web.  Eligible annual permit holders will soon be contacted via an email that will direct them to the WSU Transportation Services web site for the renewal, which is expected to start on Monday, April 6, at 9:30 a.m. (more…)

EasterFest 2015 is an Easter festival taking place this Saturday, April 4, at Kruegel Park.

A WSU Sport Management group has partnered with Pullman Parks and Recreation to put on this event.

There will be an Easter egg hunt beginning at 10 a.m. sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Pullman. Immediately following the egg hunt, at 10:30 a.m. EasterFest will begin complete with carnival games, inflatables, prizes, and much more!

Joanne Harkins is retiring after 42 years of service to Washington State University.  Joanne has worked at the Office of Student Affairs, the former Department of Speech, and the College of Education.  For the past 25 years, she has been the Assistant to the Dean, first in the College of Sciences and now in the College of Arts and Sciences.  Please join us on Friday, April 17, at the CUB Junior Ballroom from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., to say thank you for her many contributions to WSU and to wish her a happy start to a new journey.   (more…)
