Korean Student Association’s Annual Cinema Event

Korean Student Association at Washington State University presents its annual showcase of Korean cinema on Tuesday, April 10, at 6 p.m. The event will be free and open to public.

Our selection this year is “I Can Speak,” the story of an elderly woman on her journey to face her past: a traumatic experience as a young girl at Japanese military brothels during the World War Two. Once she had the courage to speak her truth, it gave her not only a permission to stand up for herself, but also a chance to educate the public about the side of history left untold. The tone of the film remains light-hearted for the most part, albeit serious intent.
