Since 1996, the President’s Award has been an honor bestowed annually to students and others who advance leadership and engagement at WSU. Recipients of this prestigious award demonstrate exceptional leadership and service to the university and the community as well as to those who support leadership development in WSU students. The 2014 award categories are student, student group, faculty or staff and community organization.
To select the awardees, a committee of faculty, staff and students will review applicants by considering each within the framework of the Social Change Model of Leadership Development, specifically with respect to these qualities: consciousness of self, congruence, commitment, collaboration, common purpose, controversy with civility, citizenship and change.
Award recipients will be honored at the Leadership and Engagement Awards of Distinction (LEAD) event on April 24 at 5 p.m. In addition to the presentation of the President’s Award, the LEAD program will feature the inauguration of the next year’s ASWSU officers, a gallery of student leadership, a reception with light refreshments, and a guest speaker. All are welcome to attend the annual event. The LEAD event and President’s Award are presented in partnership by Student Involvement and the Center for Civic Engagement.
Student nominations are due Feb. 26. Student applications and all other nominations are due March 10. Click here to learn more about the President’s Award, and click here to fill out a nomination or application form.
