China Town Hall is a national day of programming on China, offered by the National Committee on United States-China Relations. Thursday, Oct. 16, 4 to 5 p.m.
Washington State University is one of about seventy venues nationwide that will simultaneously have access to the hour-long webcast conversation with President Jimmy Carter, including the option to send in questions via email.
For the second hour of our program, we will have the opportunity to engage face-to-face with the anthropologist and expert in Asian Studies Rob Efird, Associate Professor at Seattle University. His talk “ ‘Neighbors across a Narrow Belt of Water’: Migration and Contemporary Sino-Japanese Relations” will offer a wider perspective on the complex relationship between China and Japan than we can gather through our regular news venues. This program has been a feature of our Asia Program offerings for several years. Sponsors for this years’ program are the National Committee on United States-China Relations, the WSU Department of History, and the WSU Asia Program. It is free and open to the public!
