As we progress through the 2024–25 academic year, the President’s Commission for Gender Identity/Expression and Sexual Orientation (GIESO) remains committed to enhancing a sense of belonging within our diverse Cougar community.
The President’s Commission for Gender Identity/Expression and Sexual Orientation provides advocacy, outreach, and community building across the WSU system. If you’re interested in directly impacting advocacy and advising, consider joining GIESO. Serving on this commission allows you to advise the Office of the President and WSU leadership on LGBTQIA2S+ matters. We meet monthly for two hours, focusing on promoting inclusivity, justice, and belonging. We welcome applications from students, faculty, and staff from all campuses. Board members serve a two-year term with an option for renewal. Even if you cannot serve at this time, you are welcome to contribute and attend meetings, or to work as a liaison for your campus, department, team, or organization.
You can apply to GIESO online. For more information, contact Rocky Lucas (rocky.lucas@wsu.edu) or Rachael Beck (rachael.beck@wsu.edu). Let’s unite in 2024 to foster a supportive, inclusive, and joyous environment across all our campuses. Together, we can ensure that every member of our community feels valued and represented.
Go Cougs,
GIESO
