WSU Libraries Running Scopus Trial to Seek Feedback

The WSU Libraries are offering a trial of Scopus, a scientific abstract and citation database, as a possible replacement for Web of Science (WoS) and are gathering feedback from researchers across the university. If adopted, this change would result in significant cost savings for WSU. The trial ends on Oct. 23.

Company representatives will be available in the coming days for six one-hour interactive sessions designed to introduce the database and show how Scopus can support research, teaching, and scholarly activities. Charity Elifritz and her colleagues will conduct a demonstration of Scopus and field all questions. Dates, times, and Microsoft Teams meeting registrations are as follows:

There are advantages and drawbacks to switching from WoS to Scopus, and the trial offers the university community an opportunity to try out the database and voice an opinion. After reviewing Scopus, please fill out the comparison survey. For more information, email research librarian Christy Zlatos (zlatos@wsu.edu).

The Notices and Announcements section is provided as a service to the WSU community for sharing events such as lectures, trainings, and other highly transactional types of information related to the university experience. Information provided and opinions expressed may not reflect the understanding or opinion of WSU. Accuracy of the information presented is the responsibility of those who submitted it. The self-uploaded posts are reviewed for compliance with state statutes and ethics guidelines but are not edited for spelling, grammar, or clarity.
