Visitor center wine tasting, extended football hours

Begin the first Cougar football weekend at the Brelsford WSU Visitor Center for a Cougar-connected wine tasting and open house 4-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30.

The visitor center, located at 150 E. Spring St., will host a series of pre-game open house and wine tastings Fridays before each home football game, featuring five different wines from wineries connected to Washington State University alumni.

Visitor center staff will also be on-site for extended weekend hours for home football games. The visitor center will be open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31 to assist fans with any pre-game needs. Throughout the weekend, the visitor center will also offer 20 percent off select alumni wines.

The first tasting will highlight five different wines: Cinder Wines’ Rosé, Hedges Family Estate’s CMS Sauvignon Blanc, Efeste’s Sauvage Sauvignon Blanc, Canoe Ridge Vineyard’s Rosé, and Arbor Crest Wine Cellar’s Merlot.

Tickets cost $10, include a 1-ounce tasting of each wine and commemorative Brelsford WSU Visitor Center wine glass (while supplies last). Each tasting ticket will also act as a 20 percent coupon on wines sold at the visitor center (cannot be combined with additional sales). Tickets are available for purchase beginning at 4 p.m. at the visitor center front desk and are limited to one per person. Participants must be 21 or older with proper identification at the time of ticket purchase.

The event is open to all ages. A limited supply of light refreshments will be provided by WSU Dinning Services and the visitor center.
