ORC staff offers winter recreation options

PULLMAN — The staff at the Outdoor Recreation Center is offering several options for the outdoor enthusiast this January.


The Outdoor Leadership: Winter Skills course will take place from Jan. 5 through Jan. 7. Participants will learn leadership skills that will prepare them to complete winter weather activities. Staff will teach various skills including constructing snow shelters, how to stay warm and snow terrain travel.  The cost to attend this course is $125 for Student Recreation Center members, $225 for non-members and registration closes Dec. 17.

Get paid to bicycle and stay fit at UREC

PULLMAN – University Recreation has a comprehensive training program set up for those interested in becoming fitness instructors.  UREC is offering Fitness, Cycling and Matrix Bike training courses this month.The Fitness Track lasts for two days, running Aug. 13 and 14 at the Student Recreation Center.  The cost is $50 and includes a Fitness Passport, allowing access to all fitness classes, for that session.  For participants interested in cycling, UREC offers two different training opportunities: the Cycling Track and Matrix Bike Training.  The Cycling Track is Aug. 16 and 17 at the SRC in room 252.  The cost is $50 and includes a Fitness Passport.  … » More …

Join the Outdoor Recreation Center, ORC, for an exciting weekend trip on June 10 to pristine Icicle Canyon in Leavenworth, Wash.While in Icicle Canyon, experienced guides will lead an overnight camping trip and exciting granite bouldering trip that will challenge an experienced climber or give a beginner a taste of what bouldering has to offer. Rope challenge courses have been called one of the safest and most valuable learning tools in the adventure programming field. Today, rope courses are more than just ropes, and the adventure of using them has expanded to a broad range of educational, business, organizational, recreational and therapeutic organizations. This year the WSU Pullman campus added its own outdoor ropes challenge course, located behind the Student Recreation Center.
