Awarded faculty will be honored in showcase

Seven awards recipients were recently announced, and will be honored at the annual Showcase celebration in March.

Eminent Faculty Award
Michael D. Griswold, Regents Professor in the School of Molecular Biosciences and dean of the College of Sciences, has earned the 2009 Eminent Faculty Award for his lasting contributions as an administrator, teacher, researcher, adviser and mentor.

Four faculty promoted to regents

Four WSU faculty members have been promoted to the standing of Regents professor. This promotion honors the highest level of international distinction in the discipline that raises university standards through teaching, scholarship and public service. Here are the recipients:

Michael D. Griswold, dean of the College of Sciences and professor in the School of Molecular Biosciences, joined the WSU faculty in 1976.

Four faculty named Regents professors

PULLMAN, Wash.– Four WSU faculty members have been promoted to the standing of Regents professor. This promotion honors the highest level of international distinction in the discipline that raises university standards through teaching, scholarship and public service.

Michael D. Griswold, Norman G. Lewis, B.W. Poovaiah and Gregory W. Yasinitsky will be honored March 28 during the Celebrating Excellence recognition banquet, part of WSU’s “World Class. Face to Face. Showcase” festivities to honor the achievements of faculty and staff across the university.

WSU Dean of Sciences wins top research award

The Society for the Study of Reproduction announced today that WSU Dean of Sciences Michael Griswold is the winner of their 2006 top research award.  The SSR Research Award is given annually to a member of the Society for outstanding research published in the last six years. Griswold, a faculty member in the School of Molecular Biosciences, is recognized as one of the world’s leading authorities in the study of male reproductive biology, specifically the role of the Sertoli cell in sperm cell development.  He has received a MERIT award from the National Institutes of Health and served as president of the SSR in 1998.  … » More …
