Northside-2-rendering-400RICHLAND, Wash. – The Washington State University Board of Regents this morning approved slight increases in housing and dining rates for students for the 2014-15 academic year and applauded university officials for keeping costs as low as possible.

Pizza Pipeline signs lease in CUB food court

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Northwest franchise Pizza Pipeline will replace Villa Fresh Italian Kitchen in the CUB food court this fall. As an opening date approaches, information will be posted at http://cub.wsu.edu.

“Pizza Pipeline brings strong name recognition to our students from the Northwest who dine in the CUB,” said Sean Greene, CUB director. “Access to quick and reasonably priced food is a request we receive from students in our annual surveys and we believe Pizza Pipeline fits this need.”

Dining Services deemed 2009 winner of Most Innovative Nutrition Program contest

PULLMAN – Dining Services at WSU won the honor of being named the 2009 Most Innovative Nutrition Program, according to the National Association of College and University Food Services.

The award honors programs implemented within the past year.

 

The nutrition program at WSU is a combination of innovative programs that centralize around the theme of “eat well, stay active, live fit.” Using this theme as a stepping stone for all programs, Dining Services continues to put in motion programs that will be beneficial and aid students, faculty and staff in adopting healthy lifestyles.

Pre-order meals online

Dining customers will be able to pre-order a meal or snack online and pick it up when convenient for them with the new Webfood program from Dining Services

 

“This program should be ready any day now,” said Whitney Mueller, Dining Services marketing intern. Food will be ordered ONLINE @ http://wsu.webfood.com.

 

Pickup locations will include the Dining Services espresso bars throughout the Pullman campus and the Cyber Café, Mueller said. Customers will be able to order during the hours of operation and up to 90 minutes before closing. Go ONLINE @ http://dining.wsu.edu for location hours.

Passport to a Culinary Adventure features music

The Native American Music 265 class and the Palouse Falls Intertribal Drum Group will perform on Nov. 13 from 5-6 p.m. at the Northside Café. Both groups will also perform on Wednesday, Nov. 14 from 5-6 p.m. at the Stephenson Dining Center.

Their performances are part of WSU Dining Services Passport to a Culinary Adventure, A Taste of Northwest Native America. Starting at 11 a.m. each day, the menu will feature a different Northwest Native American-inspired dish.

This is the third installment of Passport to a Culinary Adventure. A Taste of Scandinavia is scheduled for the month of December.

Campus visitors urged to plan ahead for Saturday events

PULLMAN  – Transportation and parking officials are asking people who will be visiting campus Saturday to plan ahead to avoid possible traffic problems.The Washington State University football game against Oregon is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Martin Stadium. The CUB is closed for two years’ renovation, but the WSU community has a range of alternatives for food services, said Liz Khosravi, Dining Services associate director. They include:• Hillside Café and Market at Wilmer-Davis residence hall.• Northside Marketplace at Regents-Stearns residence hall.• Stephenson dining, in the Stephenson residence complex.• Espresso bars in Lighty, Bustad and Cleveland, and the Cyber Café in Smith CUE.In addition, the Atrium Café on the ground floor of Todd Hall will expand services to include salads, sandwiches, muffins, bagels, espresso and more. CUB employees working with HRS to find new jobs

As Compton Union Building renewal plans near finalization, some concerns have circulated about elimination of CUB classified positions and where employees would go. “It is premature to say anyone is losing their job at this point,” said Steve DeSoer, director of Human Resource Services. “The only thing certain we know at this point is that the CUB will close on May 15. Other than that, everything else is just conjecture.”DeSoer said his department has been working with CUB employees since early December to outline people’s qualifications and experience and to look for employment options. New Starbucks line displayed at CUB

Starbucks will offer free samples of a new coffee line 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, in the CUB lobby.The company will have a display and representatives on hand to talk about the Estima line of fair-trade coffee. Samples will be offered while they last.WSU Dining Services has switched to the Estima line of coffee.The fair-trade designation indicates that low-income producers, mostly in the developing world, are being paid enough to support living wages and safe and healthy working conditions.
