PULLMAN, Wash. – Eight high school girls from eastern Washington will be honored for their interest and success in computing and technology at a ceremony and banquet March 22 at Washington State University.
The Award for Aspirations in Computing (AIC) program was developed by the National Center for Women in Information and Technology (NCWIT) and is administered regionally by WSU.
The 2016 honorees include:
• Lila Bowden, Wilbur Secondary School
• Emily Brunelli, Pullman High School
• Mei’lani Eyre, Omak High School
• Elizabeth Fitzgerald, Ferris High School, Spokane
• Taylor Fritz, Medical Lake High School, Fairchild Air Force Base
• Ashlee Green, Harrington High School
• Brooke Martin, St. George’s School, Spokane
• Lauren Walker, Ferris High School, Spokane
Marissa Nishimoto, a cybersecurity assessment specialist with The Boeing Company in Seattle, will be the keynote speaker.
AiC provides a long-term community for female technologists, from K-12 through higher education and beyond. It encourages persistence in computing through continuous engagement and ongoing encouragement at each pivotal stage of their educational and professional development.
