Steve Bollens, a WSU Vancouver professor and director of the Meyer’s Point Environmental Field Station, will continue to serve as the university’s faculty legislative representative following his re-election to the post for a term that runs through 2027.
In the role, Bollens serves as an institutional and statewide faculty advocate as a member of the Council of Faculty and acts as a liaison between the university, legislators, state officials and other constituent groups. Bollens is slated to begin his new three-year term in the role Aug. 16, 2024.
“I now have very deep and strong working relationships with key legislators, staffers, and others, such that I can be even more effective going forward,” Bollens said.
Bollens, who has a Ph.D in biological oceanography, has spent 31 years as a faculty member, with 19 years at WSU, as well as more than two decades of experience in higher education administration. Bollens also serves as co-director of the Aquatic Ecology Laboratory on the WSU Vancouver campus.
