Information Technology Services (ITS) has scheduled a systemwide myWSU service outage starting at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, until mid-afternoon on Sunday, Oct. 2 while transitioning myWSU to a new cloud host, Amazon Web Services (AWS).

AWS offers improved support of high-volume usage common during the start of the semester, as well as improved security, timely access to the most recent feature releases, and a bit of a new look thanks to the updated visual design of the Fluid User Interface.

Technical support of myWSU will also see improved system integrations, maintenance scheduling flexibility, ready access to the most recent security enhancements, and increased frequency of PeopleTools upgrades. Technical teams will reduce response time from weeks to minutes to change or scale up needed resources during those start of semester high traffic periods.

Because this transition will provide more frequent access to PeopleTools upgrades, the ITS technical team also plans to update PeopleTools to the latest version during the scheduled outage, improving security and gaining access to new features and tools immediately.

To ensure the myWSU outage minimally impacts academic and business users, representatives from departments across WSU coordinated the outage schedule to take place the final weekend of September.
