#CougsGive is this Wednesday

April 14: Cougs Give.

Wednesday is WSU’s annual day of giving—#CougsGive—a day-long celebration of philanthropy when the entire Cougar community joins together to support scholarships, student experiences, faculty research and outreach programs system-wide.

All WSU students, faculty and staff are invited to participate by making gifts to areas of special interest and getting the word out through their personal and professional networks. One way to maximize participation is by becoming a #CougsGive Ambassador and amplifying your engagement throughout the day.

“No matter what your area of interest, #CougsGive creates the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution,” said WSU President Kirk Schulz. “I hope the entire Cougar family will consider making a gift—of any size—and inspire others to do the same.”

More than 100 giving opportunities across WSU’s campuses and colleges will create a festive day of giving, complete with special gift matches and challenges.

In addition to the variety of opportunities to make a difference through your participation on Wednesday, generous alumni and friends have also committed more than $365,000 in challenge grants to match donors’ gifts throughout the day.

According to Mike Connell, acting vice president of Advancement and CEO of the WSU Foundation, “these giving challenges make it possible to amplify the impact of your contribution by unlocking additional funds. We’ve created an environment where everyone can support their area of passion at WSU on April 14.”

Since 2015, #CougsGive has been a remarkable success—with donors giving more than $1.8 million to support WSU initiatives over that span.

This year’s theme is “Cougs Help Cougs” with giving opportunities centered around areas of focus:

  • Student emergency/hardship funding
  • Advancing WSU’s land-grant mission, particularly in relation to COVID‑19 research and community service
  • Helping Cougs achieve their goals and aspirations
