Preparation and awareness key to safety

At WSU, the safety of our Coug community is a top priority.

That’s why we want everyone – students, faculty and staff – to be familiar with basic steps to follow in the unlikely event of an active-shooter situation.

Remember this phrase: “Run, Hide, Fight.”

  • If you can escape, do it
  • If you’re in an office or there’s one nearby, get in and secure the door
  • Only as a last resort, fight

And always, your best preparation is simply to be aware of your environment.

You’ll find more information and training videos and other materials at https://police.wsu.edu/active-shooter-education-resources/.
