Third annual Research Week to feature seed grant competitions

WSU’s third annual Research Week will be held Oct. 21–25, hosted by the Office of Research. Several sessions this year will focus on seed grant competitions to support individual and team research development.

All competitions require written applications. Applicants will present their ideas at sessions during Research Week and winners will be announced during the awards ceremony on Oct. 24.

Competitions include:

  • A large, multidisciplinary team planning grant opportunity to win $50,000 plus a two‑semester doctoral-level research assistant to develop an extramural center-type grant proposal, sponsored by the Office of Research and the Graduate School. Applications are due by Oct. 1.
  • An RA and $10K seed grant opportunity for $10,000 and a doctoral-level research assistant for the calendar year 2020, sponsored by the Office of Research and the Graduate School. Applications are due Sept. 24.
  • A travel grant competition sponsored by the Innovation and Research Engagement Office. Applications are due Sept. 15.
  • A “Pitching the Business Value of Your Research” competition for cash awards to support lab accounts, sponsored by the Office of Commercialization and the Innovation and Research Engagement Office. Applications are due Sept. 9.
