Public comments sought on proposed parking rate increases

The proposed rate increases will be used to off-set inflationary increases in parking and transportation capital expenses.

The Washington State University Parking and Transportation Task Force is inviting public comment on a proposed parking rate increase in fiscal year 2019 of 2.8 percent on annual and daily parking permits that, if implemented, will take effect at the start of the fall 2018 semester.

The proposed increase of 2.8 percent is equivalent to the increase in the 2017 Consumer Price Index. The table below shows the details of the permit rate increases.

In 2004 the Board of Regents approved annual increases in parking rates that would not exceed the U.S. Department of Labor CPI Index. The proposed rate increases will be used to off-set inflationary increases in parking and transportation capital expenses. Information regarding Transportation Services including capital expenses can be viewed at https://transportation.wsu.edu/File/TS-at-a-glance-FY18.pdf.

The university community can submit comments here.

The review and comment period will be open through Monday, March 5th. The Task Force will review and consider comments regarding these proposed changes.
