With food economics, the World Trade Organization and the Beijing Olympics all in the headlines, journalists seeking expert input for stories on Chinese politics and agricultural politics can request interviews with Paul Thiers, Washington State University associate professor of political science.
Thiers’ research expertise runs through Chinese politics, comparative politics, East Asian and Southeast Asian politics, environmental policy, the World Trade Organization and international food trade policy.
He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and the courses he teachers at WSU Vancouver include political economy of the Asia Pacific region, comparative public policy, comparative public administration, globalization and international and comparative environmental policy.
He is also a leadership team member in the WSU Center for Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Resources, which sets strategic goals and policy for the center’s work in areas including organic agriculture, agriculture and energy, climate change, and agriculture and society.
