Palouse Ridge Golf Club employees and area golfers are counting the days down to Aug. 29, when WSU’s new 18-hole championship-level golf course will open the links to the public.
With only a few weeks remaining, final touches on the course are being made, including completing work on the 7,000-square-foot club house and a cart garage, preparing the bunkers, and going down a checklist to make sure all systems are tested and running, and the course looks its best.
Some golfers are getting a sneak preview of the course, as they use the practice facility —, that includes a driving range, putting green and an 80-yard practice hole — which is open daily.

Bruce Perisho, general manager, said golfers can reserve tee-times now by going online to https://www.palouseridge.com. “We already have people making reservations for opening weekend and during the football home games,” he said, with golfers coming from Seattle, Spokane, Coeur d’Alene, Boise, Portland, Walla Walla, TriCities and other areas.
Momentum on tee-times is expected to build as notices are sent out to golfers, alumni and athletic supporters via CougNet, mail and other means.
When completed, the clubhouse will include a pro shop, lounge area and dining facilities for up to 100 people, as well as outdoor terraces.
Palouse Ridge Golf Club will serve as the home course for the Cougar men’s and women’s golf teams, and will create opportunities to host NCAA, Pac-10 and other local, state and regionally sanctioned golf tournaments
The new course might also become a catalyst for economic development in the region, potentially serving as a centerpiece for a hotel/conference center, growing research enterprises, and other local and regional economic opportunities.
