PULLMAN – Technicians are working to restore the television broadcast signals of public television stations KWSU-TV
(Pullman/Spokane/Lewis-Clark Valley regions) and KTNW-TV (Tri-Cities/Walla Walla regions) following weather-related technical difficulties experienced this weekend.
Ralph Hogan, assistant general manager of Engineering Services for the WSU Department of Educational and Public Media, said KTNW has been off the air and KWSU television has been available only to viewers subscribing to Dish Network or Direct TV since Saturday evening. The interruption of the television broadcasts occurred when ice falling from a transmission tower on Krell Hill south of Spokane damaged two microwave antennas.
Hogan said replacement microwave antennas are being trucked in to the transmitter site today, but that worsening weather conditions there make it difficult to predict when broadcasting will be fully restored.
