Open enrollment for 2006 medical benefits to begin

WSU’s annual open enrollment for health insurance changes begins Monday, Oct. 24, and will end Nov. 30. This is the time when employees can make medical and/or dental plan changes without prior approval. Changes become effective Jan. 1, 2006.

All WSU medical plans have had premium rate changes, including a decrease in the Uniform Medical Plan (UMP). All premiums were determined by the Public Employees Benefits Board (PEBB) in Olympia, Wash.

UMP has made other changes, as well. More information can be obtained by visiting the PEBB Health Care Authority website at www.pebb.hca.wa.gov. The website also explains which plans are available to which employees, depending on where they live.

Details about open enrollment and medical plan changes will be mailed to home addresses of eligible employees in the next few weeks.

Information regarding all WSU benefits will be available at the annual Benefits Fair to be held in Pullman 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, on the second floor of French Administration and Lighty atrium. Other fairs will be held around the state throughout November.

The first paycheck to reflect the new 2006 rates will be Jan. 10, 2006.
