Conference Examines Issues of Environmental Justice in Oregon, Washington

VANCOUVER, Wash. — The Center for Social and Environmental Justice at Washington State University Vancouver will host its first environmental justice conference, “EJ-ACT!: Environmental Justice-Action, Communities and Topics,” Feb. 26.

The conference is designed to address many of the most pressing issues in Oregon and Washington, including urban environmental justice, farm worker and immigrant issues and issues that directly affect indigenous communities in the region.

The morning keynote speaker will be Ramon Ramirez of Pineros y Campesinos Unidos, also known as Northwest Treeplanters and Farmworkers United; the afternoon speaker will be Robin Morris Collin, professor of law at Willamette University.
