Provost and Academic Vice President Robert Bates announced that Washington State University is joining with the University of Idaho and the cities of Pullman and Moscow in observance of the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, a Nazi concentration camp in Poland.
A Kadish prayer will be recited at 11 am Tuesday, February 1, in Friendship Square in Moscow, and
the Jewish community invites anyone who wishes to participate to join them.
For those unable to attend, Washington State University will observe a moment of silence and a ringing of the carillon at that time.
Worldwide observances of the anniversary began on Jan. 27 when world leaders and survivors of the Auschwitz death camp gathered at the site with the goal that the world would not forget what happened there.
